WHAT IS WEAVING?

Weaving is one of the world's oldest surviving crafts.  It involves the interlacing of two sets of yarns at right angles to each other.  The yarns that run along the length of the fabric are called the warp.  Those that run along the width of the fabric and interlace it are called the weft.

Warp is a great word as it has the double meaning of twisting, distorting and changing; as well as being a weaving term!

WHY WEAVE?

With weaving there are endless possibilities of  colour and texture.  It is relaxing and yet so exciting to create your own fabrics.  The range of materials is huge - wools, ribbons, string, cottons, lurex, old fabrics cut into strips...

The end result is that you'll have a wonderful fabric to wear or use in the home.
